Welcome First-Generation College Students!
The First-Generation First-Year Task Force strives to provide resources and support to Ocean County College’s first-generation college students.
Are you a First-Generation College Student?
A first-generation college student is any college student whose custodial parent(s)/ guardian(s) did not complete a bachelor’s degree.
If this sounds like you, consider joining Ocean County College’s First-Generation College Student Mentor Program! In this program, you will be matched with an Ocean County College faculty, staff member or alumnus who was also a first-generation college student. The mentor will serve as a a support and liaison for you during your academic journey. Mentorship is a collaborative relationship between a mentor (faculty/ staff/ alumnus) and a mentee (student) to provide guidance, support, and resources to facilitate the mentee’s personal, academic, and professional growth.
